How can incentives and investments support the transition towards healthier soils? This session will bring together complementary perspectives from research, economic valuation, public policy to explore how financial mechanisms can make investments in soil health economically viable and help scale up sustainable practices.
The discussion will draw on the SoilValues work on the economic analysis of soil health business models and incentives, explore how the valuation of soil ecosystem services can inform investment decisions, and examine the role of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and public financing in enabling the transition. It will also consider how businesses and value-chain actors can mobilise private investment and develop new financing approaches.
